Denver (Nov. 18, 2020) — Syntrinsic announces that Phil Kirshman will join the company as Chief Investment Officer, effective December 1, 2020. Kirshman will oversee investment strategy and manager due diligence for Syntrinsic’s Investment Committee and facilitate its consensus-driven decision-making process. In addition, Kirshman will work with Syntrinsic clients, which include community and private foundations, public charities, and other philanthropic entities and families, providing investment advice and strategic guidance to support their missions.

Prior to joining Syntrinsic, Kirshman served as the founding Chief Investment Officer for Cornerstone Capital Group, directing Cornerstone’s investment policy planning, strategic asset allocation optimization, investment implementation, and manager due diligence. He also brings in-depth experience in the field of sustainable and impact investing. Before Cornerstone, Kirshman was a senior partner on a UBS Institutional Consulting team based in Boulder, CO. He serves on the board and executive committee of Calvert Impact Capital, and recently served on the board and executive committee of US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, and was treasurer of the US SIF Foundation. Kirshman also recently completed a term on the Advisory Council to the City of Denver Office of Sustainability, by appointment of the Mayor of Denver, and chaired its finance committee. He was featured in the Denver Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Impact Investing,” and is the founder and creator of Impact Metropolis, an online impact investing community.
Kirshman is a Chartered Financial Analyst® and a Certified Financial Planner®, and he earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Legal Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
