Ben Valore‑Caplan works at the intersection of the private and public sectors to expand access to education, nature, and capital. After eight years as an institutional consultant to nonprofits at UBS, he founded Syntrinsic Investment Counsel in 2008 to serve as an investment advisor and strategic partner to foundations, endowments, operating nonprofits, and mission‑aligned private investors. As Co‑President, Ben leads the firm’s strategic direction and financial performance while remaining actively engaged with client relationships across the firm. A former educator and social entrepreneur, Ben has long focused on educational equity and opportunity. Before entering investment advisory work, he spent a decade founding and directing educational programs, most notably Denver Summerbridge, which continues to thrive more than thirty years later as Breakthrough Kent Denver. He has served on a range of education‑focused boards, including the Summerbridge Breakthrough Alumni Network, Denver Jewish Day School (Treasurer), The Logan School (Chair), and currently The Challenge Foundation. He also coached soccer for ten seasons and was awarded coach of the year in 2009 by Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer.

Ben devotes significant energy to conservation and community‑nature partnerships. His board and volunteer service has included Denver Urban Gardens, Bluff Lake Nature Center, the Colorado Zoological Trust, and the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance, where Ben currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Board.

He also engages in public policy as a means of advancing long‑term community wellbeing. Ben served as a governor‑appointed trustee and Vice Chair of the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association and served on the Investment Advisory Board for the City and County of Denver, assisted in drafting Colorado State House legislation to strengthen pension oversight and sustainability, and served on the oversight committee during its inaugural years. Ben is an active member of the Colorado Forum, a nonpartisan group committed to learning about and advocating for key public policy issues.

Ben earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his MBA from the University of Denver’s Executive program.

Ben and his wife of thirty years, Amie, live in Denver and do their best to gather their four children around the kitchen table—or any table—as often as possible.
